The Cochrane Cobras Junior Varsity Boys Basketball team dominated the court in their December 20 game in Airdrie.

The Cobras beat out George McDougall Mustangs by a land slide in score of 100-24.

Patrick Court, Cobras Varsity Boys Coach, says the JV Cobras team are very athletic and score a lot of buckets because of their strategic play.

"They play very good together as a team. They play a great trap defense which leads to a lot of pressure on the opposing team’s ball handlers which causes them to make a lot of mistakes. So that leads to a lot of fast break points for the JV squad."

The Cobras took the early lead in the first quarter and by the second quarter they were up about 50 points.

The Mustangs scored a few points but they couldn't catch up to the Cobras.

The Cobras Varsity team had quite a struggle in their game against George McDougall.

The Cochrane Varsity Boys have been hit by the injury bug since their first tournament and have been down some key players ever since.

"Seven players were dressed and we had one red shirt that came up and played. We had a very short bench and we got into some foul trouble."

It was a back and forth battle but the Mustangs triumphed 78-70.

Court adds it's an exciting season for both teams going into the New Year with high expectations.
