The Cochrane Cobras senior boys basketball team won against the only two teams to beat them in regular season to claim the RVS divisional banner on Mar. 2.

In semifinals, the Cobras outpaced the second-place George McDougall Mustangs, 76-64, before upsetting the W. H. Croxford Cavaliers, 87-73, to claim the banner. It was the Cavaliers first loss of the season.

Last night, the Cobras dominated Canmore Collegiate Wolverines, 100-56, in their first game of the ASAA South Central Zone championship.

The Cobras face the Brooks Buffalos tonight in the semifinal action in Brooks. Should they win, they advance to the gold medal game on Mar. 8, also hosted by Brooks.

The Cobras were ranked sixth in the province in the final ASAA 3A basketball rankings released in advance of zones. Strathmore High, the #1 ranked 3A team, is hosting provincials from Mar. 14 to 16.

The Bow Valley Bobcats lost to the Buffalos last night and have entered the zone consolation pool. Today, they play Canmore.

Bow Valley High hosted a full day of basketball to wrap up divisional play on Mar. 2.

The Bobcats junior boys team won silver in a 69-67 heartbreaker to the Bert Church Chargers.

The Cobras junior girls earned a silver medal in a 57-40 loss to the Cavaliers. The Bobcats finished fourth.

The senior girls teams of both Cochrane High and Bow Valley bowed out prior to Saturday's play.
