The Jack Tennant Memorial bridge will be lit purple tomorrow, in honour of World Elder Abuse.

June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD).

It was first established in 2006 by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse to bring attention to the abuse of older adults.

Every year lilacs are planted in Cochrane to mark the occasion and spread awareness about elder abuse.

Research indicates one in 10 seniors are victims of abuse.
