The Cochrane Generals played their last game of 2016 on Saturday, December 17.

The boys will take a well deserved break; Head Coach, Dan Gendur, says the timing is good. Even though the boys beat the Strathmore Wheatland Kings 5-3, it wasn't the most energetic game.

"The game lacked intensity not only on our side but their side as well. You kind of get that situation the last game before all the guys are off for a couple weeks so it's a bit of a tough game but we found a way to persevere and get the two points that we needed."

The Gens are headed into 2017, sitting at top of the HJHL with 47 points.

"We have the most points in the league and are second in win percentage so I am very happy with that."

Gendur adds the guys overall work ethic has been great considering they haven't had a full roster in a long time.

"We've had a lot of injuries this year with some key guys, I think we've only played two games this entire season with our full line up, with all our fire power so I think the guys have been stepping up and doing a good job."

The Gens Captain Logan Brown and Assistant Captian Corey Goeson, could have played agaiunst Strathmore, but Gendur says they wantrd to give both players a couple more weeks rest before being back at it.

A full line up is expected for their first game back on January 6.
