COVID-19 numbers continue to rise across the province, and according to Alberta Health Services (AHS), Cochrane has added one more case since the provincial site was last updated on November 3, 2020, at end of day. ***Please note the government website is saying eight cases in one search and nine in another.****

The additional case brings Cochrane's active case count up to nine, leaving little room before Cochrane's mandatory mask bylaw goes into effect.

If the number of active COVID-19 cases in Cochrane reaches 10, Cochranites will no longer have the choice of whether or not to wear a mask in indoor public spaces or public transit.

This isn't the first time that the Town of Cochrane has been on the brink of reaching double digits, however to date, those numbers have trended downwards before that bylaw has had to be implemented.

The AHS stats show that as of November 3, the province recorded 6,230 active cases of COVID-19.

164 Albertans are currently in hospital, 30 of which are in intensive care units.

Alberta's Chief Medical Officer will provide an update at 3:30 this afternoon.
