Starting next week, Cochrane will kick off Mental Health Week.

Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), alongside local community partners, will host a range of events aimed at raising awareness about mental health and showcasing vital resources available in the community.

Douw Vorster, community development worker for mental health said there are over 32 different event planned throughout the week.

"There will be events for all ages and all comfort levels. So even people who feel like they may not be too familiar with the idea of mental health, they're light-touch kind of events where they can kind of just dip their toes in, all the way to the more heavy conversations."

They want to highlight the organizations in the community that already do great work to support mental health.

"Our approach was really to reach out to those people that we know do this work and invite them to either do a brand new, try-something new event during the week or take something that they're already doing and let us help promote and highlight that for them."

Activities range from moms nights out, to soapstone carving to a family movie night out, to guest speakers, a self-care spa night, a group bike ride and yoga.

Mental Health Week runs May 6-12.
