A 38-year-old Cochrane man is appearing in court in Okotoks on Sept. 15 to face a number of serious firearms and stolen property charges.

Aaron Thomas Buechi has been charged by Okotoks RCMP with a total of 15 charges and had in his position three firearms, a large assortment of ammunition, Chevrolet 2500 van, five Alberta licence plates, two cellphones and a variety of tools and jewelry.

His arrest came after the RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle and people parked just outside the Nature's Hideaway Campground. The people would not respond to a call out by a camper and the RCMP were contacted.

The on-scene investigation resulted in the arrest of two males and one female, who were found in possession of multiple firearms. Upon further investigation, only Buechi has been charged and he has been remanded into custody until his court appearance.

"This is one of those situations where this person was challenged by the RCMP and didn't come forth and as a result he had a number of outstanding warrants for him and the search was conducted and the firearms and other items were seized," explains Sgt. Sukh Randhawa of the Okotoks RCMP.

Charges laid were: three counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose; three counts of failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance: three counts of failing to comply with probation order; three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm; possession of a loaded prohibited firearm; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
