Rocky View councillors will be running a marathon of meetings prior to the fall election.

Starting Sept. 12, the council will be meeting for three consecutive Tuesdays as they near the end of their term. It's not an uncommon practice, says Reeve Greg Boehlke, and at one time they regularly met three times a month on top of their monthly policies and priorities meeting.

"When we went down to two meetings, we made a concession and unwritten policy that at council's choice we could have three meetings in July and September if we wish," he explains.

"With the August break, we have the option of having the third meeting rather than loading up two meetings and making them really long and tougher on administration and the public. As far as I'm concern if council has to stay there to midnight to get their work done that's fine, but there are other factors and when you have the option of having a third meeting it's a good choice."

Tuesday's meeting appears to be a lighter load than recent RVC council meetings and only a few of the items pertain specifically to the Rocky View divisions surrounding Cochrane. It will be followed by Sept. 19 and 26 meetings. Each starts at 9 a.m. at the RVC office, 911- 32 Ave., Calgary.
