Cochrane Now's very own reporter Marni Fedeyko has won Citizen of the Year at the Cochrane Community Awards.

Fedeyko organizes, and volunteers for a number of different events and organizations in town. She says it's an honour to win the award.

"Its always nice to be recognized for hard work that you do for the community."

Fedeyko adds she was not expecting to win, as there are many in the community that deserve the award as well.

"I think Cochrane is filled with a lot of people that do amazing work in our community. I volunteer, but there's a lot of people that try really hard to make Cochrane a really community base, and spend lots of their time making it a great place to live."

She was nominated for two awards last year, but this is her first win. Fedeyko wants to thank everyone that thought of her.

"Thank you to all those people that nominated me, that's a big kudos from them. I also work with a variety of people on a bunch of different committees, so a thanks to all the volunteers that are out there."
