The anticipation has been building with each successive pre-season performance by #59 and now it's confirmed.

Cochrane's Dillon Dube will be on the roster for the Flames when they open their season in Vancouver tomorrow.

Dube has had seven solid performances in all his preseason games. He finished as one of the top 10 scorers in league with four goals and two assists, including a hat trick in his first game against the Oilers.

Flames head coach Bill Peters says Dube was one of the best players in camp and his performance didn't fade as they got closer to an opening night lineup in the last two preseason games.

He says Dube showed versatility when playing all three forward positions.

"We like him a lot as far as his hockey sense and the pace he gives the guys," says Peters. "He brings the guys along with him and that's going to be valuable for our team."

Peters says Dube has had an exciting run in junior hockey with both the Kelowna Rockets and with Team Canada, where he captained the Canucks to a gold medal in January. Now he's gone on to make the NHL full-time in his first opportunity.

"He's a guy we'll keep a close eye on and do the right with him as we move forward."
