A local tattoo and body piercing shop are bringing colours of the rainbow to its third annual fundraiser.

Whether you are an ally of the LGBTQ2S+ community, identify as, or just want some new ink, Sink or Swim Creations is once again hosting its 'Pride Flash Fundraiser' from August 19th through to the 24th.

Community members are invited to show their pride by getting a mini tattoo for $85 (rainbow flash) $95 (regular flash), or a body piercing for $55, with part of the funds going to support Camp fYrefly.

With four kids themselves, owners Jordan Shea and Rebecca Pare, say giving back to support local youth is important to them. "For us with four kids, we like to support youth. We have several friends that are LGBTQ, and it has always been something that we supported and are open to. Camp fYrefly really hit home for us."

Rainbow body piercing jewellery will be on display, as well as, some predesigned tattoos but custom pieces are welcome as long as tattoos are 1"x2" in design. "We are still donating the same amount of money we are just going to be pretty strict on the sizing this year; the shape can be varied, but it has to be within that size. We will pull out a few designs that we have always had, but we noticed people like to be creative."

Twenty-five dollars from each tattoo and fifteen dollars from each piercing will be donated to the cause, and the owners hope they exceed last year's total. "We donated $470 last year, and we're hoping to go above and beyond that this year."

Camp fYrefly began in 2004 and is an educational, social, and personal learning retreat for sexual and gender minority (LGBTQ) and allied youth. The four-day leadership retreat focuses on building and nurturing their leadership potential and personal resiliency to help them learn how to make significant contributions to their own lives and their schools.

The shop would prefer individuals interested in a flash of ink or a body piercing to make an appointment, but walk-ins will still be accepted. To secure your spot, drop by the shop at #8 118 Avenue First Street W or by call 403-981-6429.
