Cruz-4-Her, a charity cruise fundraiser for Big Hill Haven was a huge success this past weekend. The event raised over $6000 for the Cochrane women's shelter. Over forty car enthusiasts and bikers took to the road from Cochrane through the Highwood Pass with the goal to raise awareness and funds to address the issue of domestic violence in Cochrane and area.

“It was a great day, great people, for a great cause,” said Jim Messner of Cruise Cochrane, one of the event organizers.

The cruise was a partnership between Cruise Cochrane, Royal Lepage Shelter Foundation and Big Hill Haven. The event was made possible through the sponsorship of Spray Lake Sawmills and Cochrane Toyota and it is hoped it will  become an annual event in support of Big Hill Haven.

“What a treat it was to share the road with the incredible cars, while supporting and bringing awareness to Big Hill Haven,” said Debbie Leah, local realtor and board member of Big Hill Haven.

“Thank you to everyone who participated, sponsored, and supported the first “Cruz-4-Her”,” said Tara McFadden, Fund Development and Public Relations Officer for Big Hill Haven. “Events and public support make all the difference in Big Hill Haven’s ability to help women escape domestic violence and live healthy and safe lives.”

Big Hill Haven was founded in 2016 and its mandate is to respond specifically to women domestic violence issues. It serves a region covered by the Cochrane RCMP detachment including Cochrane, Morley, Bragg Creek, Redwood Meadows, Springbank, and Ghost Village.
