Ellison Smith, Tournament Director, is a happy man knowing the annual 'Shoot on the Bow' is back on.

Smith originally cancelled the tournament which brings out dart players from all over the province due to the non smoking bylaw being passed February 27. With the bylaw restricting anyone from lighting up on any town owned sports recreation facility property or sports field within 5 metres of the property line, Smith, felt the tournament at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre would be a bust with approximately 30% of participants being smokers.

Smith searched high and low to find a secondary accommodation but with the tournament requiring specific spatial requirements it wasn't looking great; until, Smith learned about the Lions Club.

"Somebody approached the Lions because they were taking over the old Curling Club and they said we could do it in there and that is where we're going to hold it. There's plenty of space in there so it will be good once we get things set up."

Roughly 85-125 dart players will be playing in the tournament and more than hosting the event, Smith, says it brings money to our local economy with many players staying in hotels and supporting our local restaurants and businesses.

There is $1000 up for grabs and Smith says all are welcome."They don't need to register, they just need to show up."

Shoot on the Bow is running June 23-25 and more information can be found here.
