The town is examining the ways to rearrange the pieces of the Canada 150 Mosaic Mural so they appear in the original order intended.

The pieces of the mural, now mounted on the building adjacent to the Tim Bannister Outdoor Arena, are in the wrong order and were also placed that way during the original Canada Day unveiling.

Tracy Brooker, manager of Recreation, Culture and Arts, says they are now exploring ways to reposition the pieces.

The posters created of the mural, autographed by Lewis Lavoie of Mural Mosaic, show it in the correct order and they're still available for purchase at the town information centre and the recreation and culture dept.office, upstairs in the Cochrane RancheHouse, for $65.

The mural is intended to start with images of our Aboriginal and Western heritage, then hikers, then children at play and finally a fly fisherman, all being carried on railway flatcars. Instead it begins with the fly fisherman, Aboriginal/Western section, hikers and then children at play.

The Canada 150 Mosaic Mural cost the town $30,000 to complete and the funds came from the sale of posters of the "Trust" mural completed in 2007, also by Mural Mosaics, based out of St. Albert, AB. It's the largest of all the Canada 150 murals completed across the nation.

While the order of the pieces may be currently incorrect, Brooker points out the artwork is beautiful and reflects a massive collaboration of the community and reflects our vibrant community spirit.
