Good news on two fronts this afternoon!

Environment Canada has lifted the snowfall warning that's been in effect since early Wednesday afternoon, and Rocky View County has lifted it's Fire Advisory that's been in effect for several weeks.

The only problem might be plowing your way to your burning pile to light it.

The weather has meant some treacherous conditions on local roads and highways but, according to Constable Kary Moore of the Cochrane RCMP, good behaviour by area drivers have kept the driving conditions from turning into a free for all.

Moore says, "For the most part, people are driving for the weather conditions.  We have responded to a few minor collisions but people are slowing down with the increased snow and slippery road conditions."

Moore says the road conditions don't dictate more officers out on patrol.  She says it's business as usual for the RCMP:

Although Moore hasn't tallied up the number of collisions brought on by the weather, she says she doesn't believe there's been a significant increase.

"Since I've been at work I can tell you there's only been one I believe, and I get here at 8:00 am."

Environment Canada says the worst of the snowfall is over and is calling for it to end sometime this evening.  After that, there is only a 30 percent chance of flurries overnight and then no more mention of snow through Thursday.

You may want to find your block heater cord though as overnight lows for tonight through Sunday are predicted to be between minus 17 and minus 23, well below seasonal normals.
