The Bobcats junior varsity girls basketball team is heading into the New Year with a win at home.

The Bow Valley High team scored a 40-33 win over the Springbank Phoenix for their first win of the season. They're 1-2 in the early goings of the Rocky View league. Next up in the regular season is a home game against the Bert Church Chargers on Jan. 17.

In the other matchup on Dec. 20, the Bobcats senior girls lost to the Phoenix, 56-52, and are heading into the New Year with a 1-2 record.

Across town the same night, the Cochrane High Cobras senior girls lost 69-56 to the George McDougall Mustangs.  That evens their record to 1-1.

In boys basketball, both the Bobcats junior and senior teams are a perfect 2-0. On Dec. 19, the junior boys defeated the Phoenix, 82-66, and the seniors won their game against the Phoenix, 93-71.

The Cobras senior boys are 1-1 after losing on the road to the Mustangs, 98-90, the same night. Their junior boys are 0-2 after a close 73-63 game against the Mustangs.
