If you are looking for something to do this chilly and snowy Family Day (February 19), head down to Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre (SLSFSC) and get physical on your own or with your kids.

Welcoming both existing members and non-members, Family Day is the perfect opportunity to check out the centre as a family, shares Tara Greene, Program Supervisor and Fitness Instructor at SLSFSC. "We have been doing this quite a few years now where we charge $15 for a Family Day pass to do anything between the hours of 10 and 4 p.m. From 10 to 4 we have a whole bunch of activities happening. We have Kid Zone bouncers happening all day, family pickleball, family basketball, family open gym time and two drop-in bubble bump soccer sessions so one is ages 7 to 12 and then another session ages 13+, we have a variety of public skating and sticks and pucks/rings happening."

A number of demos will occur around the facility including kickboxing, Zumba for kids, Cochrane Minor Soccer, and drop in curling times for people who like to try the sport out. Public and family swimming will also be available throughout the day.

Greene adds the whole point is to promote family's spending quality time together but with an added awareness around physical literacy.

Registration opportunities will also be available for joining the upcoming seasons with Cochrane BMX, Cochrane Minor Soccer, and SLSFSC summer camps.

A poster is below with all the times and the $15 fee will save you $5. A non-perishable food donation will also gain you access to the Fire Services and RCMP hockey match.
