The 'Cookie Dough' fundraiser is helping make Christmas baking easier.

Gymnasts of all ages have been out selling cookie dough to raise money for new equipment and programming.

T.C. Rogers, University of Calgary Cochrane Gymnastics Center Manager, says the fundraiser was started last year for the Cochrane Gymnastics Center and was a huge success so they brought it back this year because who doesn't love cookie dough.

"It was a fundraiser that was really well received by our clients because the fundraiser allowed them to have that break off of trying to make all those cookies in time for Christmas. They can just get it in a tub and it's frozen. They just put it on a cookie sheet, in the oven and it's done and ready to go."

The flavors of cookie dough ranges from oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip to white chocolate chunk and the monster cookie.

The top seller Rodgers says is "the monster cookie definitely! One because of the name and two because it is kind of all the products into one cookie. I mean what more could you ask for after a hard day at work or a hard day at school.?"

This year the gymnasts sold almost $12,000 which is 669 tubs of cookie dough and is equivalent to 40,000 cookies.

Rodgers adds the program not only benefits the gymnastics club but also benefits the Cochrane Community.

"The fundraiser has been a great initiative not just for our club but it's shown to make our club a skill building program that has really launched into something that has benefitted the community. It energizes us to continue to raise and to push for our programs to enhance the area of Cochrane."

The plan is to continue to sell cookie dough this time next year.
