Severe avalanche conditions are in place across much of southern Alberta's mountain ranges, prompting the closure of a section of Highway 1 in eastern B.C.

Avalanche Canada's map indicates dangerous avalanche conditions in Kananaskis Country and Banff National Park, both assigned a danger rating of four, mirroring neighbouring mountainous regions.

In western B.C., Glacier National Park and adjacent areas face similarly hazardous conditions, resulting in closures, including the overnight closure of Highway 1 between Golden and Revelstoke.

⛔️ CLOSURE UPDATE #BCHwy1 - the highway is now closed in both directions between #RevelstokeBC and #GoldenBC due to high #avalanche danger. No detours are available.
