The Stoney-Nakoda First Nation has been honoured by Banff-Airdrie MP Blake Richards for their role in promoting Indigenous tourism at a recent local tourism award luncheon.

Richards calls Indigenous tourism one of our most iconic and revered tourism experiences, particularly amongst our international visitors.

Chief Aaron Young of the Chiniki First Nation, Chief Clifford Poucette of the Goodstoney First Nation, and Chief Darcy Dixon of the Bearspaw First Nation, accepted the award on behalf of the Stoney Nakoda First Nation.

Indigenous Tourism in Alberta is a rapidly growing industry that serves domestic and international markets. It is credited with increasing jobs, businesses and economic growth for Alberta’s Indigenous communities.

Canada is currently celebrating National Tourism Week.
