Cochrane RCMP has been able to place charges against one person after investigating two separate suspicious vehicles.

Over the past 48 hours, RCMP have investigated the incidents and are encouraging anyone to report out of the normal vehicles or suspicious behaviour in their respective neighbourhoods.

Constable Kary Moore, reports the first incident occurred around 6:30 in the morning on Tuesday (December 19) after a Constable came across a parked vehicle with garbage bags covering the back windows. It is believed the 2004 Honda Odyssey van with Alberta license plate BWK9316 may be associated with someone casing homes in the rural area around Highway 8 and Range Road 33.

The second incident occurred in the early morning hours yesterday (December 20) when RCMP attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle in the Bow Meadows area. The stolen vehicle from Airdrie fled from police but was located a short distance away in the ditch. The driver, Branko Jurinovic (of no fixed address), was located nearby and charged with numerous offences including being in possession of stolen property, theft from a motor vehicle, and flight from police. Cst. Moore states Branko has been remanded in custody pending a bail hearing and will appear in Okotoks court tomorrow (December 22).

Crime prevention is a shared responsibility, and “together, the RCMP and members of the community can prevent criminal activity,” comments Cst.Moore.
