Tomorrow (June 2) Cochranites will be able to get their fill on locally made, baked and grown items once again.

For twenty years, the Cochrane Environmental Action Committee (CEAC) has been hosting the market which brings awareness to local artisans, farmers and producers.

Valerie McCracken, Market Manager says while some vendors have decided to move on, consumers will experience another great market season featuring a variety of different goods. "It is another exciting year, I could double the size of the market if I had the trail to put it on. We are up to about 45 full-time vendors and we try to leave room for 15-20ish, depending on how I can squeeze them in, part-timers every week. So you will see at least 50 up to 60 vendors throughout the season. We have some new vendors coming and of course, you'll see lots of returning regulars."

"We've got Munro Farms from Bragg Creek joining us this year, Farm Box...now Organic Box, we have Fabulous Ferments out of Cremona, a new jewellery vendor and VDG Salumi, a Cochranite who makes his own salami."

Over 140 vendors have already applied, shares McCracken, and they try to fit in as many as possible. "We're pretty fixed and we can't grow much right now because we fill the Stockman'sTrail and the trail going up to the Club House, so we only have so many stalls we can fill."

Another bonus market goers can look forward to again is partnerships with other businesses or organizations, such as the return of Chef Susan or perhaps yoga in the park.

Even though there is no shortage of market in Cochrane the Farmers' Market is still unique. "I never look at it as competition, I think it's great to have markets. We stick to what we do and knowing what our lane is and sticking to what being a farmers' market is. We just want to be the best at what we do and we stick entirely to baked, made and grow because that's our niche."

The market runs from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm every Saturday at the Historic Ranche Park. For a complete list of vendors follow the Facebook events page HERE as an updated vendor list will be available prior each market date.

You can also look forward to the once a month street market that will kick off June 21st, as well as a new logo, brand, and celebratory event for their 20th year.
