The town's "Let's Talk" communications team could be cruising to an event near you with the addition of a set of wheels.

The Let's Talk truck made its debut at Cochrane's Canada Day celebration at Mitford Park and the major focus was the proposed establishment of transit.

A map of Cochrane's transportation corridors proved to be a valuable resource to discuss transit with those stopping by the truck.

Communications personnel along with rotating town councillors and transit analyst Devin LaFleche were on hand to discuss the current task force, but they were also open to discuss any other issue or answer questions.

The cruiser is the latest addition to the town's new public engagement strategy that received blessings from town council on June 25. The mobile consultation is part of their aim to go to where the community gathers and complements a pop-up tent that was utilized earlier in the day at the Canada Day breakfast at the Royal Canadian Legion.

The truck is on a short-term lease and is a pilot project. While the cost of the lease was not disclosed, Laurie Drukier, senior communications advisor, says the cost fit into the town's 2018 communications budget. That budget is pegged at $723,525, up from the $611,739 spent in 2017.

The truck will be utilized at many events and is already scheduled to appear at both the Cochrane Farmers' Market and downtown night market.
