It's the first full week of summer break for Cochrane kids, but parents can relax—the Cochrane Public Library has got you covered.

The Summer Reading Club Kick-Off starts today and with that is a kid-friendly escape room.

Mareena Hardie, summer reading club coordinator said the event she is most looking forward to this week is Flying Books tomorrow.

"We are going to set the record for the amount of flying books in the library and we are going to be challenging all the other libraries."

"Flying Books is not actually taking a book and throwing it in the library." said Hardie.

"What it is, is we're going to be designing paper airplanes and designing our favourite book covers on top of them and then we'll take a huge video of all the kids and adults throwing our flying books in the library."

Flying Books is set to go from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday. It is a drop-in event.

On Thursday, Christopher Cool, Calgary's funniest and most kid-friendly magician, will be at the library for a high-energy magic show. Everyone is welcome to attend and registration is not required. It will go at 3 p.m.

Then on Friday there will be a Craft Extravaganza, followed by Let's Go Lego on Saturday.
