It's Pink Shirt Day today but a group of Cochrane moms are trying to end bullying and promote kindness 365 days a year.

There's a group called Love is Louder Cochrane and they meet regularly to come up with ways to teach and show kindness to others.

They call themselves the Mom Army and Organizer Jen Spackman says she got the idea to start the group after her stepson was bullied.

"My stepson came home and he didn't want to wear the clothes that we got him for Christmas because they were knockoffs of the Supreme brand that all the kids are obsessed about these days. I asked him what was wrong and he told me he got very badly made fun of and I was like you know what - this is just not cool and there's not very many resources at the school and their hands are tied, they don't have the funding."

Spackman says forming this group was an easy decision.

"We just decided - you know what? Let's be an anti-bully group so I started Love is Louder and we just got together and decided we are the Mom Army"

She says they've put together packages with treats and toys and gift cards for schools to hand out to students. They've also put together big packages with gift cards that will be given out to students at the end of the school year.

"If the school feels that a kid could use a pick-me-up or if they've been bullied. Just anything they choose so if they've been kind or a good exampled to their peers then they can give out this award."

She says they offer these treats because they want to give kids and boost for their good behaviour and to keep the momentum going.

Spackman says they meet every few weeks and plan to be out and about this summer handing out juice and snack to kids who are caught being kind.
