The province is calling upon Albertan's to voice feedback on the draft K-6 curriculum and draft social studies blueprint.

In-person engagement sessions were postponed last fall due to the pandemic and so it has been decided to move the engagement online.

Virtual engagement sessions will be opened to hear the viewpoints of Albertans starting January 31 to February 28 2022.

Education Minister Adriana LaGrange says, "Alberta’s government promised a year-long consultation process with multiple ways to provide feedback on the draft K-6 curriculum. These new sessions will enable Albertans to have focused conversations and share specific, constructive feedback on the draft blueprint and subjects they are interested in. I encourage Albertans to participate and have their say. The steps we are taking now to listen to additional input will help ensure our elementary students are learning from the best curriculum possible.”

A minimum of 44 virtual conversation sessions will be held across five regions in the province at various times to allow for varying schedules. Areas included will be Edmonton and surrounding area, central, Calgary and surrounding area, and south. The regional sessions will give communities a chance to offer local insights and unique perspectives on the draft K-6 curriculum.

Albertans are being encouraged to take part in their region and those under 18 can participate with a parent as 120 people can take part in each session. Sessions will include focused, small group conversations facilitated by independent engagement specialists.

Albertans can sign up for notifications about upcoming engagements and register for sessions HERE.

The online survey will remain active until the end of February.
