Members of Lives with Less Plastics will be holding a garbage cleanup in the Quarry district this Wednesday, June 17 that is being filmed to be included in a documentary on recycling in Alberta.

The group welcomes people to join them for the clean up. They'll be meeting in front of Good Earth Coffeehouse, #112-30 Bow St. at 1 p.m.

Those participating are asked to bring useable garden gloves, hand sanitizer, and a bag to collect garbage.

Four people have joined Jade Janzen since she sought to form a group of like-minded people to pursue a reduction in the use of plastics. Having only been able to hold weekly virtual meetings to date, this is the first time they will be meeting in person.

"We thought a garbage cleanup would be a good way to help the environment and to get closer as a group and see each other in person because all our meetings have been on Zoom," says Janzen.

Besides this garage collection, they have been producing and selling reuseable items, like dishcloths, face scrubbers (to replace the use of cotton pads), soap savers, and shower pours. These products have been made from yarn kindly donated by residents.
