Cochrane RCMP is seeking public assistance when it comes to locating a couple of thieves that hit up a Rocky View County residence.

Constable Jennifer Brewer shares thanks to the homeowner, RCMP has surveillance footage of two male suspects attempting to break into a residence on Alexa Close shortly after seven yesterday evening (August 11), using a crowbar. "The homeowner saw two vehicles pull up to the residence and two males walked to the front door and attempted to pry open the door with a crowbar.  The homeowner called out that they were calling the police, and the suspects fled."

Footage shows the suspects were on the property an hour before the attempted break and enter wearing service shirts, and that they were travelling in a red Mitsubishi Endeavour and a black Nissan Pathfinder.

The first suspect is described as a thinner white male wearing a red jacket with reflective stripes about halfway down the forearm on both arms, black pants, sneakers and a blue or black baseball hat wearing a black hoodie.  While the second male was described as having a thicker build wearing a red polo shirt with the collar popped, a black or blue hat, dark coloured pants, black sneakers and holding a crowbar.

Cst. Brewer shares the homeowners responded in the right way. "In this instance, the homeowner shouted, they didn't open the door, they didn't go outside, they just shouted through the door and scared these people off, which was perfect to do. Don't put yourself in harm's way by making contact with anyone trying to gain access into your house. You don't want to face off with these people because you don't know if they are going to hurt you or not."

As for the time of when the incident occurred, Cst. Brewer says while it may have been early, it is not uncommon. "We don't always get these types of calls that early in the evening, but it is not unheard of because people go out for dinner or to movies or what have you, especially, during the week."

If you recognize or have any information about the suspects, you are asked to call the Cochrane detachment at 403-851-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
