This week Banded Peak School in Bragg Creek will be hosting their 6th Annual Fine Arts Day, called 'Art Rebel'.

The school will become a hub of artistic energy where students will spend the day learning and creating with 40 local artisans.

There will be a chainsaw artist carving a large grizzly bear out of a solid piece of wood, a welder doing presentations outside, with the rest of the artists spread throughout the school. Each student will attend four seminars throughout the day including:

  • Wire work
  • Graffiti classes
  • Picasso of the north
  • Taekwondo
  • Pottery
  • Learning how to tie flies
  • Painting
  • Aboriginal art
  • Magic

Simon Pols, Banded Peaks School, Principal, says because of the wide range of artists that are coming in, there is something for everyone.

"We are trying to get our students to view art from different perspectives"

Pol adds the staff that organized this worked incredibly hard to host the event. He says that it is the day that many students look forward to the most throughout the year.

This event will be held January 19 at the school. For more information, click here.
