Two great fundraising/information sessions were hosted by Cochrane Resolve Legal Group over the past two weekends.

A huge supporter of the Cochrane community, Resolve Legal Group, continues to look for creative, fun ways to educate the public at large while raising money and awareness for Big Hill Haven, Cochrane's upcoming women's shelter, as well as, Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area.

On July 20th, Resolve Legal Group held it's first of two events. Looking at ways in which children 6 to 10 years of age, and their parents could best navigate and safeguard their children against bullying, the 'Anti-Bullying and Resilience Training' discussion included many great partners including Bluestone Therapy, Safe4Life, Community Yoga Cochrane, and Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), says Morin. Wanting to address a growing epidemic, Cyndy Morin, Lawyer/Owner of Resolve Legal Group, says the conversation and presenters that day were fantastic.

Resolve Legal's second event 'Buyer and Builder Beware,' was held yesterday afternoon (July 28), at their Cochrane office featuring Debbie Leah with Royal LePage Allstar and Dave McKee from the Better Business Bureau. Although attendance was lower than expected for both events, Morin says they may consider re-hosting one or both events in fall with some volunteer help. "We feel that these were remarkable events and we had a lot of interest. I think the good weather worked against us but they were both a lot of fun."

Thanks to the efforts of Eric Law, Articling Student, Jeff Brunner a twenty-year Senior Lawyer, and other Resolve Legal Group staff, both events were sparked by community concerns, states Morin.

Although Resolve Legal Group deals primarily with family law, after reading several social media posts, Eric Law, says the firm thought "Buyer and Builder Beware' warranted discussion. "The topic started with Cyndy who kept hearing from people in the community that there were some issues with contractors and doing renovations around town, and so she was inspired to host an event where we could give some legal information about builders' liens, hiring a contractor, or even, in doing your own renovations. Debbie gave us some information as to which renovations would be beneficial for resale and then the Better Business Bureau came out as well to discuss how the BBB can help you hire a contractor that is reputable and do good work for you."

Putting in several hours, Morin shares Eric Law, Articling Student, as well as, Jeff Brunner, Senior Lawyer, gave it all they had to make the events both informative and fantastic fundraising opportunities. Auctioning off painted picnic tables yesterday thanks to local volunteers, Morin shares community members will have another opportunity 'to bid' at a future event, 'A Night in the Wild West,' occurring in the evening of September 27th

If you would like Resolve to host either discussion and be willing to help the firm out, they would absolutely look at re-hosting one or both this fall. For resources or to sign up, call the Cochrane office at 403-907-0247.

Below you will find pictures of a raffle basket and the picnic tables that will be up for auction in September.
