This Christmas Eve the Town of Cochrane will see a parade like never before.

RCMP, Bylaw, EMS, and Fire Services will be driving through Cochrane communities with a special guest riding along.

Firefighter Dave Levisky, says Santa decided to trade in his reindeer for a truck with a little more horsepower. "We have a pretty scheduled route. Essentially we are hitting every community within Cochrane between 2 and 5 pm on Christmas Eve, with Santa riding on top of the fire truck. We are going to try and stop at all the roundabouts for a couple minutes, those are good meeting spots to see Santa up close."

With Santa perched up high, kids and families will be able to interact and get a candy cane from members of Fire Services. While the fire department had to skip last year due to scheduling conflicts, Firefighter Brad Hoey aka Santa, really wanted to bring the annual tradition back, shares Levisky. "When Brad was growing up in Cranbrook this was a good memory from his childhood, a great way to start Christmas Eve knowing Santa was in the area."

Interacting and giving back to the community just before the holidays is important to all our emergency services and allows residents to see first responders in a different way.

Also hitching a ride, Mayor Jeff Genung will be wishing families a Merry Christmas on behalf of Town Council.
