The Rockyview Rage fended off elimination in Game Two but they were unable to repeat the feat in the series tiebreaker.

Aided by the hot goaltending of Daine Mattson, the Southern Alberta Chaos have advanced to the south division semifinals of the RMLL Jr. B T2 after winning the best-of-three series in Cochrane over the weekend.

The Chaos dominated the scoreboard in the first game, doubling the Rage 10-5 by the end of two. They went on to a 13-8 win.

The Rage staged a come-from-behind win to claim Game Two. Down 6-4 after two, the Rage battled their way to a 9-8, with Brayton Powers scoring the winner from Carson Barrows with 1:31 remaining in regulation.

The Rage were overpowered in the final game 11-6.

Rage head coach Reese Sellwood says the team was unable to figure out Chaos goaltender Mattson.

"Their goalie stepped up quite a bit in all three of games," says Sellwood. "We got through him a little bit in the second game, but in this game, we just couldn't figure him out."

He says penalties hurt a bit, and the Chaos had improved since the regular season, believing they may have filled out their roster with some Tier 1 players.

Despite the loss, the Rage club has plenty of reasons to celebrate the season. They had their best-ever record and made their first-ever playoff appearance since the team was formed in 2018.

"It's a good starting point next year, for sure. I think we're going to keep a lot of our guys. We only have two guys leaving us who were a big part of the team, but we'll have some new ones coming in next year. We're looking good for next year."

In other RMLL news, the Rockyview Silvertips Jr. B T1 team will be facing the Red Deer Rampage in the central division championship series. The Rampage won two straight against the Calgary Chill in the semifinals over the weekend.

The Tips will have home arena advantage in the series that is expected to open in Cochrane this weekend.
