The Rocky View Silvertips Jr. B tier 1 lacrosse team is back in action at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

Last night, the Silvertips opened their season at home with a 13-12 overtime loss to the Calgary Chill.

The Tips held a 5-2 lead after one, but the Chill chipped away at the lead to force overtime.

That extra time was a bonus for players looking to knock off some of the rust after seeing no regulation play since the 2019 season.

The return to play drew a large crowd, and plenty of nonperishable food was collected for the local food bank instead of an admission charge.

This Wednesday, July 7, the Tips host the J Mounties in game two of an eight-game exhibition season in July. Game time is 7 p.m.

Besides the Chill and J. Mounties, they'll be matching up against the Lethbridge Barracudas, Calgary Shamrocks, and Okotoks Marauders.

The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League was once again forced to cancel regular-season play for all its divisions. Lacrosse normally starts in March, and league play wraps up in June.
