Cochrane has had its share of highway closures over the past couple weeks due to inclement weather.

Weather dynamics this morning (April 24) caused certain patches of Highway 22 to become treacherous leading to the closure of the highway for a period of time.

Corporal Troy Savinkoff says between the wrong temperature dynamics and the weather conditions it made Highway 22 just before Highway 1, a virtual skating rink.

"It caused several accidents all kind of at one location at a time. As we responded to one such collision, members witnessed a head on collision on Highway 22."

Cpl. Savinkoff says to his understanding there were no life threatening injuries.

Volker Stevin was called by RCMP to show the highway a little more attention, which they did resulting in the highway reopening.

While Cpl. Savinkoff didn't have an exact number of vehicles he says there were multiple that hit the ditch.
