The Cochrane Men's Bonspiel continues to be a popular destination for teams across the region.

Play gets underway today at 3 p.m. for the sold-out 32-team spiel.

Bonspiel chair Kendall Waiting, also president of the Cochrane Curling Club, says the secret to their success is combining great curling with fun off the ice and a chance to win some sought-after raffle items.

"The best part of a bonspiel is the bonspieling, which is the after-game social atmosphere. We have a great time up there in the lounge at the Spray Lake Centre and encourage anyone who would like to view to come on by."

The Man Van is back on Saturday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. to offer early detection of prostate cancer.

Waiting says UFA continues to be their primary sponsor and they have some great local sponsors, like Canadian Tire, Garmin and the Canadian Brewhouse, providing some popular prizes. Also returning is raffles for adult beverage containers that prove to be a hit with the crowd year-after-year.
