Springbank area snowboarder Felicity Geremia is taking to the slopes tomorrow (Feb. 1) on the final day of the World Youth Olympics.

The 16-year-old is one of 10 snowboarders representing Canada and is scheduled to compete in the halfpipe event.

It follows competing in the halfpipe event at the World Cup in Laxx, Switzerland on Jan. 20.

Geremia was named to the 2023-24 Canada NextGen Halfpipe team and has been a member of the Alberta provincial team for the past four seasons. She started snowboarding when she was only three years old. At 8 years old, she entered into her first Canadian National Halfpipe Competition and made the top 10, finals, won her age group, and has been competing ever since. She has also competed in FIS Junior World Championships

The skilled snowboarder was a two-time medallist at the 2023 Canada Winter Games. She won silver in the parallel giant slalom, bronze in big air, and placed fifth in snowboard slopestyle.

Gangwon, South Korea is hosting the 4th World Youth Olympics. It's the first time they've been held outside of Europe.

There are 32 men’s events, 32 women’s events, and 17 mixed-gender events for a total of 81 medal events in the 15 core Winter Olympic sports/disciplines.

The closing ceremonies follow shortly after the snowboarding events.
