While the State of Emergency has been lifted for Cochrane, the community is asked to remain conscious of their water consumption.

The emergency coordination centre will also remain open for the time being..

A level 3 water restrictions have replaced the more severe restrictions of the state of emergency for the time being.

Under a Level 3 restriction, all outdoor water use is prohibited, water pressure will be reduced as required, and bulk water sales will not be allowed.

Residents are being requested to continue to limit the consumption of water to allow the town to continue to stabilize its systems. For those who have been holding off that load of laundry or dishes or both, Fire Chief Shawn Polley, emergency coordination centre director, uttered the words some have been waiting to hear.

"We appreciate that many of you have been holding off and you've made a difference," said Polley. "We encourage you and support you by saying, do that load of laundry, run your dishwasher, and we would just say if you could do those outside peak times."

Those peak times include 6 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 9 p.m.

Repairs are well underway to both the water and wastewater lines damaged and reservoir levels have significantly improved, allowing for the state of emergency to be lifted.

More details to follow.
