The countdown to Valentine's Day is on and a group of local volunteers want to help spread the love with a contest.

Cochrane resident, Paul Singh is among the volunteers and he says that COVID fatigue is hitting people hard, and they're hoping to lift some spirits around town.

"Let's do something positive," says Singh. With everything else happening around the world -- Let's spread some love and cheer around town."

The volunteer group is holding a Valentine's Day photo contest but Singh says this one is it's not just about couples.

"Post a picture of anything you love," explains Singh. "It could be your brother, sister, a picture of your dog, kids or a beautiful view."

Singh says that along with redefining what love looks like this Valentine's Day, supporting local is the name of the game.

Residents have until Saturday, February 12 to post a photo of someone or something you love on social media for a chance to win a $30 gift card to a local business.

Singh says that the winners can choose who they would like to support.

"The amount isn't big but it's more about the cause," explains Singh. "Who would you like to support?"

To enter the contest you can post your photo on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #supportcochranebusiness.

The winners will be drawn on Saturday, February 12.
