For being a young team they have made a big mark in the curling world already and will continue to be a team to watch in the future. Team Cinnamon's home curling rink is the Cochrane Curling Club.

The team is formed of skip Zoe Cinnamon, third Myla Plett, second Raelyn Helston, lead Lauren Miller, and fifth Ava Plett. They're coached by Blair Lenton. Both Myla Plett and Miller are new to the team, as is their coach.

It's been a busy year for the team in December they won the 31st CYCA Ray Kingsmith Memorial U18 Bonspiel with a 7-0 record. By winning the bonspiel, they earned $4,000 in post-secondary scholarships, $1,000 per team member.

Then it was off to the U21 women's provincial curling championship in Llodyminster. There they had a 7-2 record, topped the round-robin and went directly into the gold medal final where the team came within millimeters to taking the championship. It came down to a measurement in the 10th end.

With a constant positive outlook Zoe said, "Our initial goal was to be top four, and then we ended up placing second, so just to be able to beat our goal like that was great."

Up next, the busy crew will be be competing for Alberta U18 women's championship in Sexsmith, Feb. 26 to Mar. 1. They will also be competing against each other in both the U18 and U21 mixed doubles provincials.

By the way, Happy Birthday Zoe she celebrated her 18th birthday on January 27!

Congratulations, Team Cinnamon on being chosen Cochrane Toyota's Athlete(s) of the month!
