While Cochrane may have not won the crown from the 2024 Kraft Hockeyville, the community continues to see amazing prizes roll in from making the top four.

The Kraft Heinz Company is set to donate 10,000 lbs of food to Cochrane in an effort to ensure no one goes hungry in the community.

The Helping Hands Society will handle the massive donation and Community Engagement & Food Programs Manager April Baird says they have big plans.

“There’s going to be 13 to 15 pallets of food coming to Cochrane on a great big Kraft semi-truck. Helping Hands will probably look at having some sort of Kraft chaos party and we'll invite all of our food security friends. Nearby food banks and food rescue agencies can come to town and be on site when this 18-wheeler shows up.”

“We love to make community connections and collaborate with other agencies, especially in the food security area. We've become friends with both rescue agencies in Canmore and Banff, obviously the food bank here in Cochrane and the one out in Mînî Thnî."

“This is a ton of food and there's no point in hoarding. We're always up for sharing.”

When it comes to the type of food, she says they had lots to pick from.

“There's going to be a lot of Kraft Dinner,” she laughs. “But also some peanut butter and canned pasta and whatever else we need. I'll make sure it's a nice variety.”

The food is set to arrive in June.

To go along with the massive food donation from Kraft Hockeyville, Cochrane also received $25,000 to go towards Cochrane Arena upgrades and $10,000 in hockey equipment for deserving youth in the community.
