The British Army will be performing maneuvers against the Bow Valley Grizzlies rugby team on the Mitford Pond to help kick off the afternoon Canada Day celebration at Mitford Park. Game time is 12 noon.

This is the second ever Grizz match against a touring British Army team.

"It should be a bit of fun," says Grizz head coach Tyler Hawes, "but at the same time we want to put out a good side and see what our boys can do."

"We're going to play the anthems and I think they'll be a good crowd there so it will be a really good showcase for the game on and off the pitch."

"It should be awesome. It's a good way to kick off Canada Day."

The last time a British Army team came here to play the game was called after the leg of a British Army player was broken. The play was tight at the beginning but the Grizz were starting to walk away with it before being called, says Hawes.

Canucks Here Wednesday

The Grizz are back at Mitford Pond two days later to resume regular season play in the top Alberta Cup rugby division. They take on the Canucks July 3 at 7 p.m.

After a season opener loss to the undefeated Hornets, the Grizz have won consecutive games against the Saracens and the Irish. The Canucks are 3-1 and were stung by the Hornets in their last game.

"The Canucks are coming off a loss to the Hornets, so they'll be looking to get back in the win column."

The Grizz have a different slant on the game.

"It's my old team, so I definitely want to see a good performance by the boys in that one," says Hawes.
