Apparently, Balzac Billy was wrong when it came to his predictions of an early spring this year, as Cochrane prepares to get hit with another winter storm.

Alysa Pederson, Meteorologist with Environment Canada, says if you thought winter was over...guess again! "There is a low-pressure system off of the BC coast that is going to bring in a whole bunch of warm air above the surface, then there is a high-pressure system in Alberta bringing in a bunch of cold air from the north and those two air masses are going to crash right through the Calgary and Red Deer corridors and give heavy snow tonight (March 29) and Friday."

Not only are we going to see another 10-25 centimetres perhaps fall but driving conditions could become treacherous as the wind picks up. "Travel conditions on Friday could be dicey in the morning and then end in the afternoon. Areas to the east and south will see mostly blowing snow in the morning while for areas west of Calgary/Cochrane there looks to still be strong winds in the afternoon giving some drifting snow on highways and open areas."

Unfortunately, if you thought surely it will warm up after this...nope, not for a bit. "The pattern we are in for about the next week or so is more of a February pattern. There is going to be another similar system to tomorrow on Sunday night and Monday giving another 5 to 15 centimetres of snow to areas like Red Deer and south and west and then we are going to just sit in a cold air mass until later in the week."

Pederson can't reiterate enough to take it easy on the roads if you are travelling earlier in the day on Good Friday or sometime Monday. "Just be careful and be safe if driving around this holiday weekend."
