Seven students from Cochrane High School are in Edmunston, New Brunswick this week learning about leadership.

The Canadian Student Leadership Conference (CLSC) is held every year, and over 1000 students from different leadership programs across Canada come together to share ideas.

Instructor at Cochrane High, and liaison for the trip, Gale Cote says there's many ideas the students bring home to better their school.

"They bring in guest speakers, not only keynote speakers, but for workshops and so on" she says. "Students can get together and hear some motivational messages, and maybe take some ideas back to their school of things they can do for fundraising, spirit events, and how to put a smile on someone's face, and make things go a little smoother for the highschool years."

This is the fourth year the school has gone to CSLC, and this is the first year they have been able to take more than 3 students.

She says it's a great opportunity to learn more about leadership, and skills that will not just help students during high school, but throughout life as well.

"It's an amazing opportunity for kids to see the energy that's at this conference, you're with kids that are totally primed and pumped to get to know you and share experiences."

Students will also participate a cultural and historical tour of New Brunswick.
