The work on Cochrane's Transit Hub and Innovation Centre is well underway and you'll notice that the future Station at Cochrane Crossing is starting to take shape.

According to Town officials, the excavation work has started and the first concrete pour was completed on August 9. They are on schedule to form foundation walls later week and they're slated to be poured next week.

The utility work is also underway with sanitary, storm and water tie-ins completed and ongoing work is taking place to coordinate the installation of power, gas, phone and internet feeds.

Town officials say that the majority of the reclamation work is also finished and much of the excavated area has been backfilled with the excess soil from the Protective Services Building site.

On June 29 contaminated soil was discovered at the future Cochrane Crossing site, which required remediation. The Town of Cochrane worked collectively with Alberta Environment and an environmental engineering firm to assess and oversee the remediation work. As a precautionary measure, air quality testing has also been performed on the site to ensure the safety of the public.

Despite the unforeseen circumstances, the project timeline hasn't been affected. The Station at Cochrane Crossing is on schedule to open in Summer 2022.
