The future of Cochrane Light Up might not be so dim after all.

On September 14 it was announced that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Cochrane Light Up would be going virtual again in 2021.

Fast-forward to the start of October and social media was taken by storm over the complete cancellation of one of Cochrane's most beloved events.

On October 1, Light Up Board Member, Margi Storey shared the announcement citing a lack of funding and support from the Town.

Today (October 4), Co-Chair of Cochrane Light Up, Stephenie Shelstad says there may be hope for the future of the event after all.

"I know there has been a lot going on with Cochrane Light Up. It’s been a whirlwind since us announcing cancelling on Friday," says Shelstad. "We have had such a tremendous outcry of support from the community and we are now in the works of a few solutions."

Shelstad goes on to say that they will be making an announcement regarding the path forward in the coming days.

Cochrane Light Up has been an annual tradition to kick start the festive season in town since 1984.
