UPDATE: The two Pink in the Week games scheduled for this weekend have been postponed due to circumstances beyond the control of the organizers.

Both scheduled games are going ahead, just the pink events are being rescheduled. Watch for the new dates.

There'll be plenty of pink in Totem One this weekend.

The first of two Pink in the Rink games happens at the U18 AA Timberwolves game against the CNHA Black tonight (Oct. 28) at 7:45 p.m. The next day, the Cochrane Generals will wear pink for the first time in their 3 p.m. matinee against the High River Flyers.

"The players are going to be dressed in pink, we're raising funds and we're going to donate everything we raise to the Canadian Cancer Society," says Timberwolves head coach David Chamberlain, who is also the major sponsor of both games through his company Cannex Contracting.

He says both teams are fired up, and they look forward to showing everyone a good time.

Funds will be raised through 50/50 draws, a silent auction, and a puck drop.

At the end of tonight's game, the jerseys worn by the Timberwolves will be presented to their moms as a keepsake. Chamberlain says that's especially meaningful for the players in their last year with the team.

Last year, the Pink Game raised over $1,300 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

"This year, just looking at the donations we have on the (silent) auction table, we're hoping to do more, but we're happy with anything we can provide to the cancer society."

Chamberlain introduced Pink in the Rink to Cochrane minor hockey six years ago. The first time it was with the U15 AA team, whom he coached, and it's become a tradition for the U18 team for the last five years.
