Cochrane RCMP was able to take a male suspect off the road thanks to implementing a tire deflation device.

This morning (January 24), Cochrane RCMP located a suspicious vehicle in the Springbank area and after the vehicle did not stop Constable Kary Moore says a tire deflation device was used.

The suspect vehicle which sustained two flat tires was followed by RCMP for a short distance before eventually coming to a stop at Calgary city limits.

Cst. Moore shares although they experienced success using the device, they are not used all that often. "There are numerous factors the officers have to consider before using one."

Through there investigation, they learned the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Calgary and numerous break-in tools were located inside the vehicle to suggest the male was likely prowling and breaking into vehicles.

A 37-year-old male with no fixed address was arrested without incident and charges are pending.
