As one of the first full-time firefighters, Huw played a crucial role in transitioning Cochrane Fire Services from a volunteer-based organization to a full-time fire department. As a training officer, he mentored and trained many members of the Cochrane Fire Services team, as well as firefighters from surrounding and regional departments.

"Huw will be remembered as a leader, mentor and friend who always had time for others and never shied away from doing his best to help others learn and grow in their careers." stated the Town of Cochrane.

Captain Jeffries passed away on Thursday evening due to illness.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with Huw’s family during this difficult time."
