The Centre Avenue Phase 3 project is set to kick off this week.

Starting today, (Wednesday, March 14) as part of the widening project, an arborist will be removing trees on the NW and NE corners of the Centre Avenue and First Street intersection.

The work is in preparation for the project which involves the widening of Centre Avenue from Powell Street to First Street.

The work is being done now in order to minimize the effect on the nesting of migratory birds that takes place later in April.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised that traffic will be impacted and for safety's sake are strongly encouraged to obey all detour signage.

Centre Avenue Phase 3 is part of the 4-phase transportation improvement plan and is expected to increase the level of service in Cochrane's Historic Downtown. It is part of the overall project that includes corridor improvements to Highway 1A and Centre Avenue.
