The Rocky View Silvertips have two important divisional matchups going into the final weekend of the regular season in Jr. B tier 1 play of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL).

The Silvertips split last weekend's games and are heading to Red Deer to face the red-hot Rampage on Saturday night. Sunday, July 14 they return home to finish the regular season against the Olds Mavericks at the SLS Family Sports Centre. Sunday's game time is 3 p.m.

The Rampage are third in the central division, just one point behind the Silvertips. They're on a seven-game winning streak and have a game in hand on the Tips. Oddly enough, the last team to beat them was the Silvertips on May 26.

The first-place Calgary Chill opened a three-point gap on the second place Silvertips with two wins over the weekend. That's four straight wins for the Chill after suffering a four-game slide in early June which was kicked off with a loss to the Silvertips.

The Olds Mavericks are in fourth and out of contention for post-season play but could play the spoiler this weekend.

Last Saturday, the Silvertips lost 15-7 to the Shamrocks, the top team in RMLL Jr. B tier 1. The Shamrocks opened a 5-1 lead after one. The Tips matched the goal count of their opponents in the second to stay within four but the Shamrocks scored early and often in the third to put the game out of reach.

It was a different story against the Okotoks Marauders on July 7. Hunter McChesney opened the scoring for the Tips in the opening minute of play and by the end of the first, the Rocky View team took a 6-1 lead. Behind by six after two periods of play, the Marauders attempted a comeback late in the third but it was too little, too late. The Tips notched the 14-11 win.
